General Cable is the leader in the New Zealand domestic market and
has earned a reputation for success in competitive export markets.
Our energy cables are used throughout the building and
construction sector, from domestic to large industrial
applications. Major projects in New Zealand include thermal
generation developments and industrial projects such as the Kinleith
Pulp and Paper Plant Upgrade.
Other projects include large retail complexes and some of the
country’s most recognised buildings, such as Auckland’s Sky Tower,
Parliament Buildings and Te Papa, The Museum of New Zealand.
Communications projects include the development of a nationwide
backbone of Fibre Optic Cables, and central city fibre networks for
Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Outside of New Zealand, the company’s cable products and
accessories can be found transmitting energy for a satellite earth
station in the Antarctic, runway lights in the Pacific Islands and
oil refineries in Asia.
Other exports include telecommunications cable into China and the
South Pacific region, and energy, control and instrumentation cable
into Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines,
Singapore and the Pacific Islands.
