The General Cable LAN (Local Area Network) cable range is used in structured cabling for computer networks for home, school, and commercial environments.
 
General Cable LAN cables have Best Environmental Practice (BEP) accreditation, PVC as per Best Practice Guidelines for PVC in the Green Building Council Literature Review and the Life Cycle of PVC Building Product’s document.  

General Cable offers Category 3, Category 5e and Category 6 cables with dependable data transmission performance.  Both indoor and outdoor use are available on request.  Indoor LAN cables have high grade flame retardant PVC sheath. Outdoor LAN cables have UV stabilised Polyethylene sheathing which also makes them suitable for outdoor above ground application (subject to installation environment).
 
These cables are intended for use in ELV application that would not be expected to exceed 50Vrms (120Vdc).  They cannot be regarded as power cables, or for the direct connection of equipment to mains power supplies.
